Stain Guide: Acrylic Paint (water based)
This is a 4th generation dry cleaner's guide for removing an acrylic paint stain!
What you need
-
Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or hand sanitizer
-
A rounded rigid plastic tool (like the opposite end of a plastic utensil or a pen clip, us dry cleaners use a spotting bone)
-
Clean towels
Steps
-
Place a clean towel behind the acrylic paint stain.
-
Pour enough rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer on to the stain so the entire stained area is covered.
-
Using your rounded plastic tool, press and rub the stain so it transfers onto the backing towel (the paint’s color should be transferring to the towel).
-
If the stain remains, move the stained area to a clean part of the backing towel and repeat the process. If you have both rubbing alcohol and hand sanitizer, use the one you have not tried yet.
-
Using your rounded plastic tool, press and rub the stain so it transfers onto the backing towel.
-
Wash as recommended on the care label.
