Stain Guide: Ash
This is a 4th generation dry cleaner's guide for removing an ash stain!
What you need
Steps
-
Wipe or gently brush away any physical bits of the remaining stain.
-
Create a paste of equal parts water and baking or washing soda. Work this solution into the stain with a soft brush and allow pretreatment to sit for 15 minutes.
-
Add ¼ cup of washing or baking soda into the drum of your washing machine and wash as recommended on the care label.
-
Inspect before drying. If the stain was removed, dry as recommended on the care label; if not, repeat the steps above.
-
If the odor and stain remain, take your garment to a dry cleaner. Dry-cleaning solvent excels at removing ash, soot, and smoke stains and odors.
