Stain Guide: Grass & Mud

This is a 4th generation dry cleaner's guide for removing a grass and mud stain!

What you need
  • All-purpose stain-remover spray (with the enzyme protease)
  • Powdered oxygen bleach or 3% hydrogen peroxide (as needed)
  • Washing or baking soda
Steps
  1. Wipe, rinse, or gently brush away any physical bits of the remaining stain.
  2. Tamp or pat in the all-purpose stain remover (the enzyme needed to break down the protein in grass is protease)
  3. Create a paste of equal parts warm water and washing or baking soda. Work this solution into the stain.
  4. Allow both pretreatments to sit on the stain for 15 minutes.
  5. Add ¼ cup of washing or baking soda to the drum / wheel of your washing machine and wash as recommended on the care label.
  6. Inspect before drying. If the stain was removed, dry as recommended on the care label. If not, repeat steps 2 to 5 or follow step 7.
  7. If the stain remains, soak it in hot water and powdered oxygen bleach for at least 8 hours and then rewash OR spray the garment with 3% hydrogen peroxide and allow it to air-dry
