Stain Guide: Pet Stains

This is a 4th generation dry cleaner's guide for removing pet stain!

What you need
  • All-purpose enzymatic pet stain remover
  • Powdered oxygen bleach or 3% hydrogen peroxide (as needed)
  • Cleaning brush
Steps For Pet Stains on Clothing
  1. Rinse stains with warm water or blot with water and a clean towel.
  2. Tamp, with your cleaning brush, or pat in the enzymatic pet stain remover.
  3. Allow this pretreatment to sit on the stain for 15 minutes.
  4. Wash as recommended on the care label.
  5. Inspect before drying. If the stain was removed, dry as recommended on the care label; if not, repeat steps 2 through 4.
  6. If the stain remains, soak it in hot water and powdered oxygen bleach overnight OR spray the garment with 3% hydrogen peroxide and allow it to air-dry.
  7. Rewash and inspect before drying.
What you need

  • Extraction machine (an extraction machine is an incredibly valuable appliance to have if you own pets)
  • 3% hydrogen peroxide (as needed)
  • Cleaning brush
Steps For Pet Stains on Furniture, Rugs, and Non-Machine Washable Textiles
  1. Blot (do NOT rub) the stain with water and a clean towel.
  2. Tamp, with your cleaning brush, or pat in the enzymatic pet stain remover.
  3. Allow this pretreatment to sit on the stain for 15 minutes.
  4. Use the extraction machine on the stain.
  5. If the stain remains, repeat step 2 through 4, allowing the pretreatment to sit on the stain overnight.
  6. Spray with 3% hydrogen peroxide and allow it to air-dry.
