Stain Guide: Urine

This is a 4th generation dry cleaner's guide for removing a urine stain!

What you need
  • Ammonia
  • All-purpose stain-remover spray (with the enzyme protease)
  • Powdered oxygen bleach or 3% hydrogen peroxide (as needed)
Steps
  1. Rinse the stain in warm water as soon as possible to remove as much water content as possible.
  2. Tamp or pat in the all-purpose stain remover (the enzyme needed to break down the protein and waste in urine is protease).
  3. Allow this pretreatment to sit on the stain for 15 minutes.
  4. Wash as recommended on the care label.
  5. Inspect before drying. If the stain was removed, dry as recommended on the care label; if not, follow the instructions below
  6. If the stain remains, soak it in hot water and powdered oxygen bleach overnight OR spray the garment with 3% hydrogen peroxide and allow it to air-dry.
  7. Rewash and inspect before drying.
