Stain Guide: Wax

This is a 4th generation dry cleaner's guide for removing a wax stain!

What you need
  • Clean towel
  • Gloves
  • Hair dryer
  • Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol)
Steps
  1. Place a clean towel behind the nail polish stain.
  2. Put a clean towel behind the stain and warm up the stain with a hair dryer. Once the wax has melted, blot the stain with a second clean towel and enough rubbing alcohol to cover the area of the stain.
  3. Wash as recommended on the care label.
  4. Inspect before drying. If the stain was removed, dry as recommended by the care label; if not, follow the next step.
  5. This wax-stained garment will likely need to be dry-cleaned. Dry-cleaning solvent makes wax stain removal quite easy.

Replying to @Buzyz This is a dry cleaners guide to removing a wax stain. Pretty easy overall if you have the right process / equipment. 1) Heat that wax up with a hair dryer 2) Once it’s closer to liquid than solid, blot with a clean towel and rubbing alcohol or a high proof clear liquor 3) Repeat depending on the severity of the stain This process should work on all types of fabrics however you should test a hidden area with what you plan to remove the stain with to see how the textile reacts.
